We were in and out of boats all day. From our hotel in Lido, we visited one of the islands to learn about glass making, returning to St. Mark’s square for a walking tour and introduction to Venetian history, art and culture, including a tour of St. Mark’s Cathedral, with its 86,000 sf of glass tile mosaics. We toasted Venice with traditional drink of spritz and enjoyed the city for a few hours. We returned to Lido for some down time. I took a swim in the Adriatic, as the beach was just a few blocks from our hotel. We took another boat to Burano, the most colorful of the Venetian islands for dinner.
